The problem

Your backflow program should not live in scattered PDFs and missed reminders.

Municipal letters, device lists, test dates, failed results, tenant notices, and report deadlines can get messy quickly. SOLARNA gives property teams a clearer workflow from first letter to next-year reminder.

One device list.
One schedule.
One renewal calendar.

Workflow

A clear workflow from compliance letter to next-year reminder.

The goal is not just a test result. The goal is a clean path from intake to documentation, closeout, and renewal.

FAQ

Common questions

What is backflow testing?+

Backflow testing checks whether a backflow prevention assembly is operating as required under the applicable municipal program. The test records device details, readings, pass/fail status, and report information.

What is a cross-connection survey?+

A cross-connection survey reviews accessible water-system conditions, existing protection, device locations, documentation gaps, and potential follow-up needs. SOLARNA keeps factual survey work separate from engineering opinions, sealed reports, and design recommendations.

Do you repair or replace failed devices?+

SOLARNA documents failed devices, notifies the client, follows the required reporting workflow, coordinates licensed-trade next steps where required, and retests after correction where authorized. Internal repair, rebuild, installation, replacement, relocation, pipe cutting, and regulated plumbing work are performed by licensed plumbers or licensed trades where required.

Can you submit municipal reports?+

SOLARNA supports municipal reporting where the applicable municipality, program, and tester registration allow it. Requirements vary by municipality, so we confirm the local workflow before quoting or booking.

Are you approved in my municipality?+

Municipal registration and accepted functions vary by local program. SOLARNA confirms current registration status before booking work. Being registered or listed by a municipality does not imply endorsement.

What should I send before requesting a quote?+

The best starting documents are your municipal compliance letter, prior test report, device list, property address, municipality, due date, access instructions, and any known water-interruption constraints.

What happens if my device fails?+

The failure is documented and communicated. SOLARNA follows the applicable reporting workflow, routes correction to licensed trades where required, and performs a retest after correction where authorized.

Do you work with property managers?+

Yes. SOLARNA is designed for property portfolios: consolidated device lists, testing schedules, report packages, failed-device follow-up, and next-year reminder calendars.

Do you work with contractors?+

Yes. SOLARNA supports fire protection, mechanical, plumbing, and irrigation contractors with testing and paperwork while respecting the contractor's client relationship.

Do you provide engineering cross-connection hazard reports?+

Not yet. SOLARNA is preparing the systems required for future professional engineering services, but engineering opinions, sealed reports, design recommendations, protection adequacy reviews, and professional correction plans are not currently offered, quoted, or delivered. We can still help with current backflow testing, device inventories, factual survey documentation, compliance-letter review, and routing items that require licensed trades or future engineering authorization.

What is the difference between a cross-connection survey and an engineering hazard report?+

A survey can document devices, locations, existing protection, photos, due dates, and factual observations. An engineering hazard report may go further by applying engineering judgment to hazard classification, protection adequacy, device selection, correction strategy, or sealed recommendations. SOLARNA keeps these scopes separate so clients know exactly what is being provided.

How often do backflow devices need testing?+

Many municipal programs require annual testing, but requirements vary by municipality, device type, and property. SOLARNA confirms the applicable program requirements before booking.
